Mission To Africa

Martin Palmer a joinery apprentice for Speakmans in Burnley has travelled to Tanzania in Africa at the end of April.

This trip to Africa will certainly not be any holiday.  The trip organised by Accrington & Rossendale College, Bethany Project and sponsored by Speakmans has a purpose to help redevelop and maintain an orphanage out in Tanzania for two weeks.

Martin will be joined by eight of his fellow students and two teachers.  They will taking across with them tools, which has left them little room for any packing for themselves.  So all those little luxuries have had to go, and goes for the accommodation too!  As they will be sleeping ‘ruff’ in the village and not living it up in plush accommodation.

Martin has said “I am really looking forward to the trip, but I’m also starting to get nervous because I have no idea what to expect.  We are only allowed to take one bag and the rest has to be tools!”

We wish Martin all the best with his trip that involves hours of flying (3 flights), an off-road vehicle for a bumpy 3 hour ride, and then straight into work!  Good luck and we look forward to the photos.
